God's Children Reflection

The documentary, God's Children, is about the people who live in the dump in the Philippines. The documentary shows different people they interviewed and how that person lives. There was landslide and 1000 died. The government then decides to close the dump and the trash stopped coming in. The people there had nothing to scavenge for, therefore, there was nothing to sell to make money to buy food. One family the documentary showed, was a family with 3 children. One with an illness and the father had tuberculous. The father was unable to feed his family. They had to borrow rice from other people. Sometimes, in the dump, there would be combustions and that area would be filled with toxic fumes from the burnt plastic. In this documentary, it shows that families without money were unable to send their children to school. It also showed us a couple, with an unborn child. The mother was only 19 and the father was 18. In this documentary, it interviewed a 12 year old girl and her family. When they run out of rice, they had to eat the yam that grew themselves. They haven't had meat for a long time. To me, this documentary was pretty graphic. I think that we should help them to improve this world. I think that a way to help and spread about this is to show other people this video so that other people are aware that there are people living in the dump and are suffering. We are lucky compare to the people who live in the dump. We have food, meat, vegetables, and a stable home to live in.

Electrolytes in our body

Why do we need electrolytes in our system?

Our body needs electrolyte to ensure proper cellular functioning. Electrolytes regulates water levels and they play a vital role in muscle, nerve and brain function. If there are too much or less electrolyte levels in our system, it will swell or shrink our brain cells which effects our thinking.
Our body needs water, and electrolytes directs the water to the parts of the body where it needs it.
Drinking too much water can flush electrolytes out of the body, which then imbalances it.

Why wear rubber shoes during storms?

You wear rubber shoes because rubber is an insulator. It protects you from getting electrocuted. During a storm, there is going to be rain, and the water rains down on to the ground, where it makes contact with your feet. So, where lightning touches the water, the water is a conductor, and since it has no plastic or rubber to control it, it can touch you and you get electrocuted.

Morrie's Aphorism

Aphorism #1

"Get as much help as you can when you need it."

I never relied on others to help me. In the past, I never dared to ask for help from others. I thought that I was a bother to them. I was used to hanging out on my own and minding my own business. But now, sometimes, I would ask for others to help me. I find it really nice to know that there is someone there to help me. Because of this, I still found it hard to ask other people questions at times.

Aphorism #2

"Learn to forgive others and forgive yourself."

I believe that forgiving yourself and forgiving others is a way of moving on. Forgiving someone can be very hard. Take me for example, I find forgiving people very hard. I find that forgiving my brother is a very hard work. Ever since my brother has begin to be stubborn, I found him extremely irritating. Everytime he breaks, or destroys my property after my warnings, those were the toughest moments. I have to resist whacking my brother on the head for not listening to me.

Aphorism #3

"Don't assume that it is too late to be involved in something. "

There are moments in my life, especially the first day or class of school or piano lessons, I would be uncomfortable if I was late on that day. Sometimes, I would try to avoid going to that class just because I was late. I hate being late because I believed that if I was late to a party or game, I would be left out because everybody would have a place in the party or game already and it would be really hard for me to join.

Aphorism # 5

Be Hopeful but not foolishly hopeful.

In my life, I have been hopeful for things that I no longer hoped for. I find that, in life, sometimes, hope can disappoint you. Nowadays, I hope on small unimportant things in life. The smaller the disappointment, the softer the ground is when I fall down.
