Why wear rubber shoes during storms?

You wear rubber shoes because rubber is an insulator. It protects you from getting electrocuted. During a storm, there is going to be rain, and the water rains down on to the ground, where it makes contact with your feet. So, where lightning touches the water, the water is a conductor, and since it has no plastic or rubber to control it, it can touch you and you get electrocuted.
